CALLUM SMITH TELLS BN:

Boxing News - - ACTION -

“I’D been here there and everywhere to finally get the one shot. If I lose it, there’s no guarantee I’ll get another one. I remember just thinking I’ve got to take this shot. I’ve got to take advantage of it. Otherwise, I’ve made good money, but I could retire without winning a world title and I know that would eat away at me the rest of my life.

“I was still amateur [when Groves knocked out Paul Smith]. It was good to get a bit of revenge.

“[Another conqueror of Paul’s, James] Degale, him and Groves are big names in British boxing. They’ve both had good careers, they’ve both been world champions and they’ve both made a name for themselves. I’ve heard Degale is fighting Eubank. I don’t think it’s confirmed.

“I think the winner of that puts himself in a good position [to fight me].

“I’d never say never. I just want to fight whoever makes the most sense and I’d like to fight fighters where I can gain something from them.”
