Plan passed to build new crematorium for district

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - NEWS -

PLANS for a new crematorium have been given the go ahead.

Aylesbury Vale District Council (AVDC) passed the application for a new crematorium two miles north of Aylesbury, on Wednesday, July 9.

Chiltern District Council submitted the plans on behalf of the Chilterns Crematorium Joint Committee, representing Aylesbury Vale, Chiltern and Wycombe district councils.

The group’s crematorium in Amersham opened in 1966, but the committee said there is an increasing demand for burial plots.

The pressure on Amersham Crematorium prompted the search for new land, though people will be able to choose which crematorium to use.

Work is expected to start on the site in the next few months and the crematorium is expected to open in early 2016.
