Discover your family history

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - NEWS -

HAS the imminent centenary marking the start of the First World War made you curious about the old photos of a uniformed greatgrandparent you have discovered tucked away in an old album?

If you have been wondering how to discover more about him, you are in luck.

Buckinghamshire Family History Society’s (BFHS) annual Open Day and Family History Fair takes place on Saturday at The Grange School, Wendover Way, Aylesbury.

It draws visitors from all over the county and beyond, who have an interest in family or local history and it presents a good opportunity to talk to the enthusiastic and knowledgeable team of society volunteers.

BFHS chairman Tony Sargeant said: “We always look forward to welcoming newcomers.”

There will also be an opportunity to buy the latest family history related software, maps and books, to meet family history societies from neighbouring counties, museums and archives, and local history and heritage groups.

A research area will be set up, where parish register transcripts and other reference material will be available.

The open day is from 10am to 4pm. Entry and parking is free.
