Picture of the week

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - OPINION -

OUR Community Editor Mort Smith pulled up the blind AT his kitchen window early one morning this week, and was greeted by the sight of this beautiful vixen asleep in one of his flowerbeds.

“She was fast asleep in the early morning sunshine but her sixth sense must have alerted her to the fact that someone was watching because she was quickly wide awake,” Mort said.

“She just sat there looking back at me for a minute or so but then she got up, stretched and sauntered off across the garden and over the neighbour’s fence, presumably to find a more secluded spot to finish her nap.”

Increasingly foxes are venturing further into our towns and villages, even to rear their young. It is difficult to feel too aggrieved, though, when you have the chance to see them close up like this.
