Suc­cess in two leagues

THERE was a dou­ble suc­cess for Chessvale Bowls Club in this week’s Chiltern and Thames League matches.

Freda Holt, Alan Hard­ing and Andy Loakes were the top scor­ers as Chessvale edged past Loud­wa­ter 54-51. The same trio were still in fine form as Wen­dover were beaten 61-38, and they also won the con­cur­rent friendly match 57-43.

Chessvale en­joyed two vic­to­ries in the Three Coun­ties League too.

The first was at Wy­combe, where Pauline Loakes, Ron Nash, Brian Baker and Barry Red­ding were the high­est win­ning rink in a 91-88 tri­umph.

They also over­came Chal­font St Giles at home, by a score of 127-79, win­ning on four of the five rinks. Pauline Siz­more, Dave Holt, Chris Nash and Andy Loakes were the top per­form­ers.

Chessvale won 88-65 at home to Bov­ing­don aided by Mae Nash, Jack Mur­den, Sheila Clarke and Ron Nash. They did suf­fer one de­feat, though, with Tring com­ing out on top 80-67 de­spite the ef­forts of Pete Sher­rock, Jean Net­tle­ton and Pete West.
