AMERSHAM AND CHESHAM HARD OF HEARING CLUB
Kate welcome everyone and said we were small in number this month as several members are either unwell or had another commitment this evening.
However as we welcomed back our ‘old' friend Paul Ross we knew we are in for an entertaining evening as Paul talked about drwaing.
Paul greeted everyone saying his coming to the club seems to be an annual event now as it coincides the same week as his birthday. He said everyone can draw something and he hoped we would all join in trying with some pencil drawing. He explained the different types of pencils that you can buy some that produce a softer line and can be ‘smudged' for more effect. All the pencils we used were HB.
He started us off by just drawing a circle - this eventually became a ball and with the appropriate shading it was a ball on the move…… then another circle became a flower and again with shading some could see how their drawing really began to take shape.
Refreshment break and a very special birthday cake for Ian who is celebrating his centenary in a few days time. So after a resounding singing of Happy Birthday we all enjoyed cake and tea. The raffle was drawn and then Kate gave out some announcements. She had written to Restore Hope, Latimer, thanking Gary Grant and family for a wonderful afternoon with a visit to their lake and tea, which they so generously provide for us and other local charities. Kate had also written to thank the boys from Stony Dean School who had done a wonderful job of looking after us throughout the afternoon.
We have received a wonderful £470 from Waitrose Chesham from their community donation scheme.
Jenny announced that unfortunately we hadn't had a sufficient number of people for the coach trip in September so although we were cancelling this we will be going out somewhere more locally so please keep the date in your diaries and the location will be given out at the beginning of September.
Kate reminded everyone that we do not have a meeting in August so please remember to get enough batteries for your hearing aids this evening or if you do run out do give Kate a ring and she will bring some round.
We finished off the evening by drawing a birds feather, wing and head. What a fun evening which we all really enjoyed, and proved that everyone can produce a simple drawing. Paul was thanked again by Kate
Next meeting is on Tuesday, September 9 at 7.30 Halifax House Little Chalfont.
