Sweet sounds expected from operatic society

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - ON SHOW -

AN operatic society has announced its next production will be Sweet Charity.

The Beaconsfield Operatic Society has said it has chosen the next show it will perform for its winter season.

Sweet Charity, with music by Cy Coleman, is based on Federico Fellini’s screenplay for Nights of Cabiria.

However, where Fellini’s black-andwhite Italian film follows the romantic ups-and-downs of an ever hopeful prostitute, this musical follows a dancer-for-hire at a Times Square dance hall.

The musical premiered on Broadway in 1966, where it was nominated for nine Tony Awards, and ran in the West End as well as having revivals and international productions.

The musical will be performed at the Curzon Centre, in Maxwell Road, Beaconsfield from Wednesday, October 22 to Saturday, October 25.
