Charity trustee Johanna Dodd said: “I find it incredibly humbling that of all the charities to choose from, he chose us. It makes me go all emotional and prickly.
“People like to raise money for us because they know where the money goes.”
Mr Machin has four marathons, a 6.2-mile night trail and an 84-mile, three-day trek to complete the overall challenge this year.
