A VILLAGE pub is celebrating after winning a prize for its floral displays.

The Stoke Poges, Wexham and Fulmer Horticultural Society has given its annual Most Colourful Pub award to the Rose & Crown pub, in Stoke Poges.

It narrowly beat the Fox and Pheasant, also in Stoke Poges, to the prize.

President of the society, John Homan, said: “Both pubs had superb displays and either would have been a worthy winner.

“In the end we had to decide which display had the most intense colourful impact and the large begonias in the tubs at the Rose & Crown probably made the difference.”

Other pubs in the running for the prize were the Black Horse, in Fulmer, and The Stag, in Wexham.
