Tidy bowl­ing makes up for three ducks

RON Hedley led the field Amer­sham Hill IIs re­turned win­ning ways on Satur­day.

He struck 59, Ryan Gil­foyle added 37, Jon­nie Cooper hit a brisk 29 and Ashish Pa­tel put 24 to­wards a to­tal of 203-9.

The score might have been even bet­ter had they not suf­fered a late col­lapse. Hav­ing reached 170-3, three bats­men re­turned to the pav­il­ion with­out scor­ing.

Bray­wood IIs were well in front of the re­quired rate un­til the in­tro­duc­tion of Bob MacKen­zie and Sa­man­tho D’Costa halted the flow and wick­ets be­gan to fall.

MacKen­zie took 3-37, D’Costa as to bowled seven overs, fin­ish­ing on 1-9, and Sam Bug­den (3-54) wrapped up the Bray­wood in­nings.

In the same divi­sion, Winch­more Hill (271-4) were vic­to­ri­ous against Lit­tle Mar­low IIs, who were bowled out for 182.

Amer­sham Hill’s firsts were shot out for 94 by Penn and Tylers Green in Divi­sion One, who then got home by five wick­ets, and Chal­font St Giles (174-8) drew with Bin­field (195-8).

Great King­shill main­tained their lead in Divi­sion Two by beat­ing Bray­wood by two wick­ets, hav­ing suc­cess­fully chased their op­po­nent’s to­tal of 266-6.

In Thames


League Divi­sion 6A, Chal­font St Peter IIs suc­cess­fully chased 250 to beat their Old Mer­chant Tay­lors’coun­ter­parts. Justin Weller fin­ished with 7-89 and then smashed an un­beaten 35 with the bat as Chal­font got home with seven overs to spare.

Stan Devlin (17) and James Mallinder (31) got Chal­font off to a de­cent start be­fore Ben Tucker (35 off 18 balls) and then Paddy Keogh (69) and San­jay Sharma (54 not out) helped fin­ish the job.

In Divi­sion 3B, the first team were dis­missed for 117 while chas­ing Old Mer­chant Tay­lors’ 239-9.

Bea­cons­field were out­gunned their in Divi­sion One clash. They made 219-9, with Charles Thomas scor­ing 61, but their op­po­nents, High Wy­combe, claimed vic­tory on reach­ing 221-6.
