Tidy bowling makes up for three ducks
RON Hedley led the field Amersham Hill IIs returned winning ways on Saturday.
He struck 59, Ryan Gilfoyle added 37, Jonnie Cooper hit a brisk 29 and Ashish Patel put 24 towards a total of 203-9.
The score might have been even better had they not suffered a late collapse. Having reached 170-3, three batsmen returned to the pavilion without scoring.
Braywood IIs were well in front of the required rate until the introduction of Bob MacKenzie and Samantho D’Costa halted the flow and wickets began to fall.
MacKenzie took 3-37, D’Costa as to bowled seven overs, finishing on 1-9, and Sam Bugden (3-54) wrapped up the Braywood innings.
In the same division, Winchmore Hill (271-4) were victorious against Little Marlow IIs, who were bowled out for 182.
Amersham Hill’s firsts were shot out for 94 by Penn and Tylers Green in Division One, who then got home by five wickets, and Chalfont St Giles (174-8) drew with Binfield (195-8).
Great Kingshill maintained their lead in Division Two by beating Braywood by two wickets, having successfully chased their opponent’s total of 266-6.
League Division 6A, Chalfont St Peter IIs successfully chased 250 to beat their Old Merchant Taylors’counterparts. Justin Weller finished with 7-89 and then smashed an unbeaten 35 with the bat as Chalfont got home with seven overs to spare.
Stan Devlin (17) and James Mallinder (31) got Chalfont off to a decent start before Ben Tucker (35 off 18 balls) and then Paddy Keogh (69) and Sanjay Sharma (54 not out) helped finish the job.
In Division 3B, the first team were dismissed for 117 while chasing Old Merchant Taylors’ 239-9.
Beaconsfield were outgunned their in Division One clash. They made 219-9, with Charles Thomas scoring 61, but their opponents, High Wycombe, claimed victory on reaching 221-6.
