SUMMIT Mountain Bike riders had a triumphant time in a competitive Go-Ride Tour event at Cassiobury Park, Watford, on Saturday.

The Chiltern hopefuls raced hard in the hot sun in three events – a sprint course, a twisty MTB course and a handicap race.

The first to triumph after all three events was Poppy Gregory, aged seven, for the U8 girls. She was joined on the podium by fouryear-old Katie Allsop, who rode strongly into second place.

Eight-year-old Lucy Allsop won the U10 girls event with another strong display and nine-year old William Akers strode to a fine victory for the U10 boys, while his sister Rebecca competed well to take top podium spot in the U14 girls section.

Meanwhile, for the U8 boys, six-year-old Harry Gregory rode strongly to just miss out on a podium place, taking fourth spot in his first cycle race.
