Mu­sic and puds for fundraiser

PEO­PLE at­tended a con­cert and tucked into pud­dings to raise funds for a char­ity sup­port­ing school chil­dren in In­dia.

The con­cert took place in St Michael and All An­gels Church, in Gren­fell Road, Bea­cons­field, rais­ing £2,200 for a char­ity pro­vid­ing ed­u­ca­tion for 500 very poor Dalit, un­touch­able, caste chil­dren in ru­ral In­dia.

Af­ter the con­cert those at­tend­ing were treated to a range of pud­dings and a glass of wine.

Mem­ber of the fundrais­ing team David Baker said: “Che­sham based Da­mon Singers gave an im­pec­ca­ble per­for­mance rang­ing from early church mu­sic to a lively Tequila Samba.

“Soloist He­len Baker beau­ti­fully sang the Dove Sono from The Mar­riage of Fi­garo and trum­peter Barbara Dou­glas played four so­los in­clud­ing vir­tu­oso vari­a­tions of My Old Ken­tucky Home.

“The mu­sic was com­ple­mented by three very hu­mor­ous mono­logues and af­ter­wards peo­ple said it was fab­u­lous and it was re­ally was one of the best they had been to.”
