Fundraising day that will be good for your health too
A WOMAN whose daughter has cystic fibrosis is helping to improve treatment for the condition by organising a fun day.
Gemma Cochrane, 34, from Gerrards Cross, has a four-year-old daughter, called Millie.
The fun day is in Penn Street Village on Sunday and includes a 5km run, a fancy dress contest and a Zumbathon.
Money raised from the event will go to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, which funds research into treatment for the condition.
Ms Cochrane said: “I am greatly encouraged by the research that the Cystic Fibrosis Trust funds, looking at how to help those with lung damage in particular.
“We are also very grateful for their support generally, and especially when we were given Millie’s diagnosis. She was less than a month old, and we had to come to terms with the relentless daily treatments required just to maintain her health.
“I thought it would be appropriate to create a fundraiser focusing on exercises and keeping fit to stay healthy.”
The event runs all day on Sunday. For more information on how to get involved in the activities, go to www.gotheextramileforcf. co.uk/penn-street-villagefundraiser-day.
