First round clinches cup
OAKLAND PARK GC DAVID Sills and Richard Dale came out on top at the Oakland Park Golf Club Seniors’ Invitational Day – but the real winner was charity. Sills and his guest ichard Dale LITTLE HAY GC LUKE Wrathall shot a first round of 79 on his way to becoming Little Hay Golf Club junior champion.
Wrathall, 15, followed up his opening 18 holes with a second round of 83 to claim the trophy by two strokes from Jamie McIvor and George Rocca. Meanwhile, 15-year-old Craig Walker
won the handicap competition with nett 139 over the two rounds to lift the trophy.
Will Howe finished second on nett 141, while Rocca was two strokes further adrift in third.
The Junior Club Championship was played over two days and 36 holes with youngsters aged between 11 and 18 competing for the two titles.
from Winter Hill Golf Club, took the onours with 45 points n the 4BBB Stableford ompetition. Runners-up Peter Radcliffe and Roger Evans (Richmond Park) were a point behind while Mick Doherty and Jim Peacock (John O’Gaunt) finished on 41 points.
However, the real winner on the day was Parkinson’s UK with a raffle raising £300 for the group, which is this year’s chosen charity of seniors’ captain Peter Cathrow.
A total of 30 members and their guests took part in the competition last Thursday.
