First round clinches cup

OAK­LAND PARK GC DAVID Sills and Richard Dale came out on top at the Oak­land Park Golf Club Se­niors’ In­vi­ta­tional Day – but the real win­ner was char­ity. Sills and his guest ichard Dale LIT­TLE HAY GC LUKE Wrathall shot a first round of 79 on his way to be­com­ing Lit­tle Hay Golf Club ju­nior cham­pion.

Wrathall, 15, fol­lowed up his open­ing 18 holes with a sec­ond round of 83 to claim the trophy by two strokes from Jamie McIvor and George Rocca. Mean­while, 15-year-old Craig Walker

won the hand­i­cap com­pe­ti­tion with nett 139 over the two rounds to lift the trophy.

Will Howe fin­ished sec­ond on nett 141, while Rocca was two strokes fur­ther adrift in third.

The Ju­nior Club Cham­pi­onship was played over two days and 36 holes with young­sters aged be­tween 11 and 18 com­pet­ing for the two ti­tles.

from Win­ter Hill Golf Club, took the onours with 45 points n the 4BBB Sta­ble­ford om­pe­ti­tion. Run­ners-up Peter Rad­cliffe and Roger Evans (Rich­mond Park) were a point be­hind while Mick Do­herty and Jim Pea­cock (John O’Gaunt) fin­ished on 41 points.

How­ever, the real win­ner on the day was Parkin­son’s UK with a raf­fle rais­ing £300 for the group, which is this year’s cho­sen char­ity of se­niors’ cap­tain Peter Cathrow.

A to­tal of 30 mem­bers and their guests took part in the com­pe­ti­tion last Thurs­day.
