WAS lucky we cel­e­brated El­lie’s first birth­day early, on a sun-filled day, as the sum­mer ap­pears to have come to an abrupt end with tem­per­a­tures peak­ing at 15 de­grees some days and tor­ren­tial rain on the bank hol­i­day.

I’m a great fan of au­tumn though, and am thor­oughly en­joy­ing shop­ping for El­lie’s 12–18 month win­ter wardrobe (far less guilt­mak­ing than shop­ping for my­self!).

The early sum­mer and late rain has brought on an abun­dance of our late sum­mer and win­ter squashes ch we are sell­ing through the p. love cook­ing but­ter­nut squash I find it such a pain to peel. It’s e first year we’ve grown ‘patty an’ squash and I was thrilled to dis­cover that you eat the skin and o it is ready to pop in the oven n a mat­ter of mo­ments (and trangely ther­a­peu­tic carv­ing it nto chunks).
