Festival a taste of the Chilterns
Local food produce on sale and demonstrations of country crafts at event
A FOOD festival will take place at an estate in the Chilterns this weekend.
The National Trust and Chilterns Conservation Board have organised the Chilterns Countryside and Food Festival, which will take place at Ashridge Estate, near Berkhamsted, on Sunday, from 10am to 4pm.
The festival will local produce children’s activities, displays and more.
This is the eighth year of the festival, which has more than 100 stands demonstrating the various activities, crafts, industries and wildlife associated with the Chilterns have stalls, craft countryside, showing how they work together to help promote and preserve our local countryside.
Cathy Rose, from the Chilterns Conservation Board, said: “The Chilterns counties of Bucks, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire are home to a huge variety of food producers, artists, crafts people and environment organisations and this event them.
“Unlike other craft and food events, where exhibitors could have come from anywhere in the country, more than 95 per cent of the exhibitors at the Chilterns Countryside Festival come from within 25 miles of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so visitors to the show really are buying local.”
More than 40 food stands will be selling local produce ranging from cheeses, cakes and chutneys to pies, pastries and poultry. Hot food will also be available at the event.

and ceramics, repurposed clothing, plus jewellery, cards, photographs and accessories. Many of the stall holders will be demonstrating their skills and, in some cases, people can even have a go.
There will also be live music.
