Free Seminar for Carers WE’RE holding a free seminar for carers, giving professional and practical advice on common issues they may face in the workplace on Wednesday, September 17, from 6-7pm, in our Spring Centre. It’s open to everyone across our catchment – you don’t have to have a link to the hospice to come. John Carter, employment specialist at Berkhamsted solicitors Sumner & Tabor, will be giving guidance on everything from time off and flexible working hours to protection, discrimination and support. Email email@example.com or call 01442 869 550 to find out more or book your place.
Open Meeting and Annual Meeting We want to embrace every opportunity to engage with our local public. So this year, we’re combining our annual meeting with an Open Meeting on September 24, from 7.30-9.30pm, to reach more people interested in our work, the services we offer and the broader issues we’re all facing as we grow older.
Guest speaker, Professor Claire Goodman, Professor of Health Care Research at the University of Hertfordshire, will give a talk entitled Ageing well in Hertfordshire – Myths, Magic and Possibilities, which will follow a hospice update from our director, Dr Ros Taylor, MBE, DL.
Everyone is welcome – please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more
Not Long Left to Sign Up! Registration for our inaugural Mud Pack Challenge closes at midnight on September 30. Places are being snapped up fast so don’t delay. Sign up at www.stfrancis.org.uk/mudpack.
Trek Nepal 2015 Open Evening Why not do something incredible and join us as we trek to Nepal next year? Just imagine: five days trekking the Ghorepani Poon Hill trail through the stunning Annapurna region; hiking through lush alpine forest surrounded by towering snow-capped peaks, and enjoying panoramic views across the Himalayas from Poon Hill. After the trek, you’ll spend two days volunteering at a hospice in Kathmandu, which supports terminally-ill patients and helping with much-needed refurbishments where basic tasks like repainting rooms or improving kitchen facilities will make a real difference.
If you’d like to hear more about this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, come to our Open Evening at the hospice at 7.30pm on Thursday, October 2, and bring a friend! Add your name to the guest list by simply emailing your name and contact details to sarah.ajder@ stfrancis.org.uk or calling 01442 869 555.
