Grow­ing for show­ing

FLOW­ERS, fruit and vegetables were all on dis­play at a vil­lage show.

The Farn­hams and Hedger­ley Hor­ti­cul­tural So­ci­ety’s an­nual vil­lage show drew a crowd to the vil­lage hall on Sun­day.

Richard Try, Molly James, Pat Mar­shall and An­gela Mor­ris all won in the flower ar­range­ment classes.

Win­ning chil­dren’s ex­hibits in­cluded a re­cy­cled model by Michael Hartup and Lola Keynes’ an­i­mal made Ladies pro­vide tea Farn­hams and Hedger­ley Hor­ti­cul­tural So­ci­ety Show from vegetables.

El­iz­a­beth Cot­trell won the best child pho­tog­ra­phy ex­hibit.

Fiona Cath­cart won best ex­hibit in show for her ta­pes­try and Richard Try sub­mit­ted the ex­hibit that gave judges the most plea­sure with his flower ar­range­ment on the First World War.

One of the or­gan­is­ers John Co­nen said: “It was per­haps a bit late in a very good grow­ing sea­son to ex­pect a large num­ber of veg­etable en­tries but they were of good qual­ity as were the fruit and flower en­tries.”
