Gar­den­ing show full of char­ac­ters

GAR­DEN­ERS were out in force for a vil­lage’s au­tumn show along with the BFG, Hun­gry Cater­pil­lar and Ra­pun­zel, writes Jo-Anne Rowney.

The chil­dren’s book char­ac­ters were dot­ted around Seer Green ahead of its au­tumn show’s scare­crow contest, with the win­ners an­nounced on Satur­day af­ter­noon.

En­tries in­cluded Dahl- in­spired scare­crows, with Matilda, as well as Harry Pot­ter and a few Ra­pun­zels.

The win­ners dressed their scare­crow as Tom and Mowzer, from The Mouse­hole Cat.

There were also dis­plays of vegetables and other pro­duce.

One of the or­gan­is­ers, Char­lotte Bag­gins, said: “It went re­ally well. The scare­crows were bril­liant.

“Even with the strange sea­son we have had we had a lot of en­tries, and the hall was bustling and busy all af­ter­noon.”

First Place: The Til­ley-Reeves Col­lec­tive with Tom and Mowzer was ab­ducted be­fore the show from a bench in the vil­lage. She is still miss­ing and @ SGGar­den­ers are ap­peal­ing for her re­turn.
