Leap onto bikes for a healthier lifestyle
FEELING inspired by the Tour of Britain that raced through the lanes of Buckinghamshire, but don’t know where to start?
Well, help is at hand from Leap, the County Sport and Activity Partnership for Bucks and Milton Keynes, which is encouraging residents to get on their bikes and lead healthier lifestyles.
Leap has a handy new activity internet search, listing hundreds of regular sports and physical activities available on your doorstep, whether you want to go on two wheels, on the water or in the playing field or gym.
From beginner running groups to badminton, netball, rowing or aerobics sessions, there are a variety of sessions taking place across the county.
You don’t have to be an athlete to join in – many sessions are designed for beginners and ease you in gradually.
Being active keeps your heart healthy, reduces your risk of serious illness and strengthens muscles and bones.
It can also be a great way of reducing your stress levels and lifting your mood.
Working, studying and caring for others can mean there isn’t much free time, but being active doesn’t have to be about pumping iron or running for miles, there are lots of different ways to be more active.
Clubs and organisations are encouraged to add to the growing list of regular activities the length and breadth of the county, so if you are looking for something new to try or are wanting to enjoy some great free publicity for your club or organisation, then visit www. leapwithus.org.uk.
