Is your calling to help fight fires?

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - NEWS -

DO YOU have what it takes to combine your working and home life with being a firefighter?

That is the question Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service is asking as it launches a recruitment drive for retained firefighters at High Wycombe, Chesham and Great Missenden.

Retained firefighters do the same job as full-time staff, but rather than being based at a fire station, they are on standby while going about their usual business.

Station manager Paul Scanes said: “On-call firefighters are a vital part of today’s service. They provide an efficient, costeffective service that gives emergency cover to more than 90 per cent of the UK.

“We’re hoping people who haven’t previously considered applying will ask themselves whether they can, in fact, provide cover at critical times of the day or night.”

Retained firefighters are trained and equipped to deal with a wide range of incidents and situations, including fires, road traffic collisions, rescues and water-related incidents.
