Care home opens on French Horn site

50 staff look­ing after 53 res­i­dents at full ca­pac­ity

A CARE home has opened on the site of a for­mer pub.

Buck­ing­ham House, in Ox­ford Road, of­fi­cially opened on Fri­day last week.

Peo­ple in Ger­rards Cross were in­vited to en­joy drinks and food, and to see the fa­cil­i­ties.

The 53-bed home has been built in place of the French Horn pub, which closed in 2007 and has been va­cant ever since.

It is be­ing run by the Maria Mal­la­band Care Group, and so far 12 peo­ple have signed up to live there.

The home will pro­vide nurs­ing, de­men­tia and res­i­den­tial care, and is ex­pected to em­ploy up to 50 staff once it is fully es­tab­lished.

Jill Shearer, se­nior op­er­a­tions man­ager at the Maria Mal­la­band Care Group, said: “Be­ing new to Ger­rards Cross, we are priv­i­leged to be cen­tral to such a beau­ti­ful lo­ca­tion and have al­ready been very warmly wel­comed by those who live here.”

The home will fa­cil­i­ties such as a din­ing rooms, spa land­scaped gar­dens.
