Trek in­cludes two days do­ing vol­un­tary work in Kathmandu

A HOSPICE is invit­ing peo­ple to go on a ‘travel op­por­tu­nity of a lifetime’ while rais­ing char­ity cash.

The Hospice of St Fran­cis is invit­ing any­one who might be in­ter­ested in join­ing its trek to Nepal in Novem­ber next year to come along to an open evening on Thurs­day next week at 7.30pm at its Spring Cen­tre in Berkham­sted.

Led by travel company Dif­fer­ent Travel, the 12-day trip, sched­uled for Oc­to­ber 31 to Novem­ber 11, 2015, in­cludes a five-day trek through the Alpine for­est of the Ghorepani Poon Hill trail and across the snow-capped peaks of the An­na­purna re­gion with its panoramic views across the Hi­malayas.

After the trek, those tak­ing part will spend two days vol­un­teer­ing at a hospice in Kathmandu, which sup­ports ter­mi­nal­ly­ill pa­tients and help­ing out with much-needed re­fur­bish­ments such as re­paint­ing rooms or im­prov­ing kitchen fa­cil­i­ties.

The open evening will give a brief over­view of the coun­try and its peo­ple, de­tailed in­for­ma­tion on the daily plans of the trip, p ad­dress prac­ti­cal mat­ters such as what to take, rec­om­mended fit­ness lev­els, health ad­vice and en­try re­quire­ments.

Com­mu­nity fundraiser Sarah Ajder said: “The Nepal trek of­fers peo­ple the chance to ex­plore a fas­ci­nat­ing coun­try, meet new peo­ple and en­joy shared ex­pe­ri­ences on a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

“I’d urge any­one who is even a lit­tle bit tempted to come along to our open evening where they can find out what’s in­volved and ask as many ques­tions as they nt be­fore om­mit­ting.” All money aised from the trek will go to the Hospice of

The trek is open to all but does re­quire a reg­is­tra­tion fee and for in­di­vid­u­als to com­mit to rais­ing a min­i­mum
