Chesham’s colts celebrated with awards
THE many successes of Chesham Cricket Club’s colts section were celebrated at their junior section awards evening.
Star billing went to the U13s A boys team, who again remain undefeated in Buckinghamshire, winning both the Bucks U13 League and Bucks U13 Cup competitions, only losing when they went on to represent the county in the National Cup, going out to the eventual winners in the regional final.
In the same age group, the B team consolidated their position in Division One and the C team finished top of Division Four to secure promotion.
There was more joy for the U14s A team, who regained their title by winning the Bucks County League for the fourth time in five years, while the B team consolidated their position in Division Two by finishing mid-table.
In a close-fought season, the U15s finished mid-table in Division One, but only eight points behind the eventual winners, and made it all the way to the final in the U15 Cup, before losing to a very strong High Wycombe side.
The U10s played their first Bucks County League season, with both the A and B teams performing admirably and the A team securing promotion to Division One.
The U11s A and U12s teams both consolidated their positions in Division One, both finishing midtable, while the U11s B, comprising many who have never played competitive cricket until this season, improved dramatically throughout the season and recorded their first win.
Meanwhile, the U13s girls, comprising girls in the nine to 13 age range, entered the Bucks League and Lady Taverners competitions for the first time and are one of only two all-girls teams in the area to play hardball cricket. While they have yet to record their first win, they have performed tremendously throughout the season.
