AMERSHAM Cricket Club saw out their season with their traditional finale against the Free Foresters and the Bucks Cup semifinal against Buckingham Town – and both games finished with one wicket wins off the last ball.

The Free Foresters amassed 280-6 before declaring, which looked a daunting total, and Amersham were in some difficulty before Luke Jackson’s fluent century saw them to the brink of victory. His demise left nine needed off the last over and excellent strokeplay from Ed Langley, plus a run out, brought the game to the last ball, which David Atkinson unexpectedly hit for four to win the game.

Meanwhile, a century from Bruce Friderichs allowed Amersham to set Buckingham Town 240 to win in the Bucks Cup semi final and they too were in some difficulty before a century from their opening batsman brought them back into the game.

Wickets and runs were exchanged in equal measure before a scrambled single off the last ball condemned Amersham to defeat, denying them what would have been a fitting end to a terrific season.

CENTURY:

Luke Jackson
