Hat-trick of hat-tricks for rampant W&A

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - SPORT -

THERE were three hat-tricks as Wycombe & Amersham College ran riot in their opening fixture, thumping Berkshire College of Agriculture 16-1.

Piotr Zielinski, Frank Andrews and Matt Hatt all achieved the feat as their team dominated last week’s game from start to finish.

Tom Lane, Connor Hoyte, David Pearson and skipper Alex De La Salle were also among the scorers at Denham United FC.

The home side were one up within the first five minutes after some hard work from Andrews saw him break away from his marker and cross for Zielinski to finish comfortably beyond the defence.

Zielinski grabbed his second with a fine solo effort and completed his hat trick by heading home from a Shaun Downes corner.

Last season’s top scorer Andrews, who is looking to better his tally of 22 goals from last year, weighed in with a contribution while the pick of Hatt’s goals saw him trap the ball with his left foot before spinning away from his marker and opening up his body to send a powerful strike into the corner.

Goal of the game went to Pearson who picked up the ball in midfield and, after being given time and space, he glanced up at goal and sent a strike that dipped and swerved into the top corner.

Berkshire College’s consolation came from a penalty which was converted despite keeper Ben Gibbs getting a hand to the ball.

Man of the match went to new lad Matt Barrell who slotted into an experienced backline and prevented any danger down the right hand side of the pitch.
