Vicar shares Burundi experience

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - NEWS -

A TRIP to Africa was something of a homecoming for a vicar.

The Rev Jeremy Brooks gave a talk at St Mary and All Saints Church, in Windsor End, Beaconsfield, on Tuesday, September 23, sharing his experience of Burundi.

Mr Brooks visited the country in July as part of a group organised by Food for the Hungry.

The team of 13 were based in the north of the country, visiting schools and coffee plantations.

For Mr Brooks, it was something of a homecoming, as he spent the first part of his childhood in Burundi and was born in the neighbouring village to the one where the project was based.

Mr

Brooks

said: “More than 60 people came to hear the talk and responded generously to an appeal for money to help provide a roof for a church in the region.”

The cost of the roof, together with putting a roof on an African’s pastor’s house, totalling £1,600, will be met from those donations and a gift from the church.
