Travel guide co-founder shares adventures on 40th anniversary
AN INTREPID traveller will share her adventurous tales on Tuesday, October 14.
Hilary Bradt, co-founder of the famed Bradt Travel Guides, will talk at 7.30pm at St Andrew’s United Reform Church in Packhorse Road, Gerrards Cross.
Ms Bradt, who is originally from Chalfont St Peter, first explored the Chilterns countryside. Then she hitchhiked to the Middle East and, after a brief stint in London, travelled to South America.
She used a second hand typewriter to begin Bradt Guides in 1973.
The company’s office still thrives in The Vale, Chalfont St Peter.
This talk mark’s Bradt Guides 40th anniversary and the publication of her new book The Irresponsible Traveller.
It is a culmination of travelling tales from writers and celebrities such as Michael Palin, Ben Fogle and Mrs Bradt.
