Waste facility will have ‘a horrendous effect’

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - NEWS -

A WASTE transfer station will have ‘a horrendous effect’ on a nearby village if controversial plans to build it come to fruition, a councillor has warned.

Chalfont St Peter parish councillorKateSouthworth spoke out against the application for the facility in Amersham.

She told the council meeting on Thursday last week: “It is going to have a really big effect on Chalfont St Peter.

“It is going to bring all these heavy lorries with all the pollution that goes with that and all the dangers on the road.

“I just think it is going to have a horrendous effect, and it is all ready bad for traffic (on the A40 Amersham Road). I want to make sure everybody is aware of it.”

The waste station proposed for London East Road, between Amersham and Chalfont St Giles, would enable FCC Environment to deliver its waste contract for Bucks County Council (BCC).

Waste would be loaded on to larger vehicles there to take it to an incinerator.

The application is expected to be considered within the next three to five months.
