Antiques Roadshow star hosts charity auction tribute to Hector
A WELL-KNOWN antiques dealer will host a charity auction at the weekend.
John Bly, who is best known from the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow, will host an auction of promises at The Court Theatre, in Tring, on Saturday.
The cabaret style evening, called Memories, is in remembrance of Hector Stringer who took his own life on April 20, 2011, aged 18 years old.
Funds raised will be donated to Campaign Against Living Miserably, a charity nominated by Hector’s House, a suicide and crisis prevention information resource set up in his memory.
Mr Bly will auction more than 20 lots of ‘promises’ donated by friends, family and local businesses, including a one-week holiday in Greece for two people including flights and accommodation, a tour of the Victoria and Albert Museum for six people conducted by Mr Bly himself, numerous health and beauty and entertainment and leisure vouchers and more.
Hector’s friends will do group and solo musical performances. To donate a ‘promise’ email hihector@ hectorshouse.org.uk.
Tickets cost £15 and are available from www. courttheatre.co.uk or on 07543 560 478 or Beechwood Fine Foods, in Frogmore Street, Tring (cash only).
