LUCY Allsop was Chiltern-based Summit MTB’s star performer in round one of the Gorrick Endura Autumn Series in Aldershot on Sunday.

Allsop (pictured), just eight, showed older rivals the way home as she pedalled to victory in the U11 girls’ event in a winning time that would have placed her seventh in the boys U11s race.

The club’s three remaining competitors all contested the boys 13 to 14 age event, with Ben Broadhead just missing out on the podium in fourth, while Tom Barrowcliffe came home seventh despite picking up a shoulder injury.

Ross Deall was also in the wars after crashing early injuring his knee.

The club will host its annual Autumn Classic in Lotts Wood, near Hyde Heath, on Saturday, October 18, which is part of British Cycling’s Go-Ride racing initiative designed to give young riders safe, competitive sport.
