Wadlow’s rolling back the years

TENNIS

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - SPORT -

DAVE Wadlow proved there was life in the old dog yet at the Chesham Bois Tennis Club annual championships on Saturday.

Wadlow showed great stamina for a man in his eighth decade of life to outlast opponent Stephen Hill, to win the over-60s title after a third set tie-break.

Two more club stalwarts, Caroline Adams and Alison Williams, also showed they were in no mood to hang up their racquets just yet by pocketing a seventh crown.

It wasn’t all about the golden oldies however as Miles Groom and Angus Creighton, both 12, staged a gripping two hour encounter for the U12 honours, the former coming out on top in three sets.

In total, 19 adult and 18 junior titles were settled at the end of four months of competition involving around 130 members and 150 games.
