MALT THE BREWERY, Collings Hanger Farm, Wycombe Road, Prestwood

We can’t believe it’s nearly two years since Nick and Jenny Watson started up this delightful micro-brewery. Malt is now established as a first class addition to our local brewing community with Nick delighted at having won his first gold star from the Great Taste Awards for his products. And the brewery’s tasting bar is also proving a real hit with local real ale connoisseurs.

Jenny said: “There’s a real buzz in the brewery on Fridays and Saturdays when the tasting bar is open; it makes the week’s work making real ales all the more worthwhile!”

With all this success, Malt The Brewery has recently taken on a new apprentice, through the government scheme promoting apprenticeships. Angus Wallbank, joined Team Malt in August as a brewing operative. He’s already making a significant contribution to the team as they increase production to meet demand.

Malt will be holding an open day on Sunday, October 12, to celebrate their second anniversary.

THE CHEQUERS, London Road West, Amersham

At the end of a long week, it’s always nice to let your hair down and relax – and that’s precisely the object of the exercise when the Chequers hosts its Friday night party each week. Tremendous ales, free parking and a DJ

on their feet.

THE GEORGE AND DRAGON, High Street, Chesham

The Loft bar is going to be a scene of high energy dancing on Saturday, October 25, when landlord Jim Dyer welcomes back the Dogmattics, a punk rock outfit who cover classics from bands like The Clash, The Ramones, The Stranglers, Green Day and The Vapours.
