Hav­ing a ball thanks to £10k boost

A CAN­DLE­LIGHT ball has raised more than £10,000 for char­ity.

Macmil­lan’s Ger­rards Cross and Dis­trict Com­mit­tee man­aged to raise a to­tal of £10,698 at the event which was held at Stoke Place in Stoke Po­ges on Satur­day, Septem­ber 20.

The to­tal meant that the event, which is now in its 20th year, has raised more than £500,000 for Macmil­lan since it was launched.

Macmil­lan sup­port­ers were joined by guests from across the South East and the Mid­lands, who ate and drank while be­ing en­ter­tained by a harpist and ma­gi­cians.

Liz King, am­bas­sador for Macmil­lan Can­cer Support and project leader of the Candlight Ball or­gan­is­ing team, said: “The Can­dle­light Ball was a huge suc­cess, we thank ev­ery­one who sup­ported it and they cer­tainly put the fun into fundrais­ing.

“The ball was a sell-out, with a wait­ing list for tick­ets, and we are still re­ceiv­ing gen­er­ous do­na­tions.

“We will con­tinue to or­gan­ise more fundrais­ing events for Macmil­lan.”
