World war talk
HEDGERLEY: Dr Mike Senior will present A Bucks Village in the Great War on Wednesday, October 15 at 8pm in the Memorial Hall, Kiln Lane.
Many of the Bucks men who enlisted in the First World War joined the local TA unit, the Bucks Battalion.
After training, they were posted to the Western Front and took part in the attack at Fromelles in July 1916.
The talk centres on the discovery, 92 years later, of a mass burial pit that was discovered near Fromelles and, by means of DNA, a number of the remains of soldiers from Bucks were identified.
Call John Lovelock on 01753 647 187 or email jdlovelock@btinternet. com for more information about the talk.
