Singing praises at

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - NEWS -

PEOPLE gathered together for a harvest afternoon tea followed by singing. The event was held in the late afternoon on Sunday in the Fitzwilliams Centre, in Windsor End, Beaconsfield as part of the Silver Sunday initiative.

The idea was to put on special events for older people in the community.

People enjoyed tea and cake in the hall before heading over to St Mary and All Saints Church, for Songs of Praise. Hymns included Praise My Soul The King of Heaven, and Dear Lord of Mankind.

Rev Dr Jeremy Brooks said: “I am really grateful to all the willing volunteers who baked cakes, served teas, arranged lifts, and brought people round from some of our care homes.

“It was a superb event and I hope it won’t be the last time we do it!”

There was also a Harvest Service in the morning with gifts of non-perishable items donated to support the work of the Newham Renewal Programme in East London.
