Chessvale crowned league champions
CHESSVALE Bowls Club have been crowned Three Counties League champions.
They won the final against Rosedale seven points to five to give the side the trophy.
Chessvale went behind early on in the five rink contest but pulled back to win on three rinks and draw on one.
Rosedale won one rink and also picked up two points for the most points scored, but it was Chessvale who emerged victorious.
Elsewhere, Alan Cohn defeated Sue Springell by one shot to win The Champion of Champions Trophy at Chesham Bowling Club.
Cohn triumphed 21-20 as the match, which is played between the club’s men’s and women’s champions, went down to the final end.
Chesham defeated Hemel Hempstead 111-98 in their final friendly of the season with the top rink consisting of Delphine Brown, Harry Denham, Margaret Denham and Trevor Bateman, who won 21-9.
In the annual captains versus president match, which is contested by 66 players over nine rinks, the former came through 201-157.
Club captains Chris Fillery and Margaret Denham reported on a successful season for the club and awarded Howard Cave and Trish Parsons as their bowlers of the year.
Meanwhile, Gill Henderson was named as the most improved ladies bowler and the club also raised £2,904 for their charity this year, Stop the Clots,
And Richings Park won 109-73 in their friendly at Ashford with Liz Dunham, Colin Cawley and Ron Parks, who formed the highest winning rink 23-9. The match had been scheduled to be a home fixture but had to be moved because the club’s new green had closed early.
