County cup suc­cesses

CHE­SHAM Sun­day League sides El­do­rado and Mag­pies 91 Re­serves both en­joyed suc­cess in county cup com­pe­ti­tions this week, writes Gra­ham Barkus.

El­do­rado reached the third stage of the Berks & Bucks In­ter­me­di­ate Cup after beat­ing Ol­ney Town 5-0 with goals from Kieron Webb (2), Brett Evans, Craig Eden and James Brit­nell

And Mag­pies tri­umphed in their first round Sub­sidiary Cup tie as Eric Bow­den and Dean Franklin se­cured a 2-0 win over fel­low Che­sham Sun­day League side Chiltern Charg­ers.

In the Premier Di­vi­sion, Di­namo Che­quers and Mag­pies 91 shared the spoils with Trevon Moora’s strike for high fly­ing Di­namo can­celled out by Craig Dyas.

Jean-Pierre Jamil was among the scor­ers as cham­pi­ons Pi­o­neer edged out Chal­font Saints 3-2, for whom Joe Brit­ton and Al­fie Cum­ber were on tar­get, while Last Post’s game with Misty Moon was post­poned.

There was a nine-goal thriller in Di­vi­sion One at Tring (An­chor) where vis­i­tors Pi­o­neer Re­serves grabbed the spoils with a 5-4 win.

An­chor net­ted via Tom Sell (2) and Adam Gan­u­lati (2), but Pi­o­neer took the points thanks to Jor­dan Richard­sonHill (2), Scott Pear­son (2) and James Whit­field.

Mean­while, Ma­clay FC edged a close en­counter with Che­sham Ath­letic by the odd goal in seven cour­tesy of Saif Hi­j­jana (2), Dean Gavin plus an own goal.

Ath­letic replied through Jack Grant (2) and Ben Dun­can, but they could not find the elu­sive equaliser.

Com­plet­ing the Di­vi­sion One pic­ture was in-form Queens Head who were held 1-1 at home by SFG Stone.

The vis­i­tors looked on course for their first Che­sham Sun­day League vic­tory when Ben Far­row gave them the lead but they still picked up their first point after Dan Ben­ning lev­elled for Queens.
