County cup successes
CHESHAM SUNDAY LEAGUE
CHESHAM Sunday League sides Eldorado and Magpies 91 Reserves both enjoyed success in county cup competitions this week, writes Graham Barkus.
Eldorado reached the third stage of the Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup after beating Olney Town 5-0 with goals from Kieron Webb (2), Brett Evans, Craig Eden and James Britnell
And Magpies triumphed in their first round Subsidiary Cup tie as Eric Bowden and Dean Franklin secured a 2-0 win over fellow Chesham Sunday League side Chiltern Chargers.
In the Premier Division, Dinamo Chequers and Magpies 91 shared the spoils with Trevon Moora’s strike for high flying Dinamo cancelled out by Craig Dyas.
Jean-Pierre Jamil was among the scorers as champions Pioneer edged out Chalfont Saints 3-2, for whom Joe Britton and Alfie Cumber were on target, while Last Post’s game with Misty Moon was postponed.
There was a nine-goal thriller in Division One at Tring (Anchor) where visitors Pioneer Reserves grabbed the spoils with a 5-4 win.
Anchor netted via Tom Sell (2) and Adam Ganulati (2), but Pioneer took the points thanks to Jordan RichardsonHill (2), Scott Pearson (2) and James Whitfield.
Meanwhile, Maclay FC edged a close encounter with Chesham Athletic by the odd goal in seven courtesy of Saif Hijjana (2), Dean Gavin plus an own goal.
Athletic replied through Jack Grant (2) and Ben Duncan, but they could not find the elusive equaliser.
Completing the Division One picture was in-form Queens Head who were held 1-1 at home by SFG Stone.
The visitors looked on course for their first Chesham Sunday League victory when Ben Farrow gave them the lead but they still picked up their first point after Dan Benning levelled for Queens.
