make-up again. Putting it on this morning was like riding a bike!”
Colin, who was wearing a helterskelter dress when I spoke to him which matches the set, has nine costume changes. “Look out for the Parton one,” Colin advised with a big smile on his face.
Returning for his fourth pantomime, and his third time as the villain, is Richard Mann. He played Tin Man in last year’s production of Wizard of Oz and he is looking forward to being booed again.
“The Tin Man was great but I love playing the villain. You have lots of fun and I love the kids booing at me, it’s just great being the baddy.”
He added: “It’s a real family panto. I don’t live around here so I think it’s a real testament that this is my fourth year. It’s like a family, it sounds cliche, but it’s just fun.
“What’s great about this is you’re not going on some massive star name, I like to think it’s the quality of the show and everyone getting on and having a good laugh.” pantos here. I can’t wait to get stuck in and I can’t wait for rehearsals to start,” he said.
Playing Jack’s love interest Princess Isabelle is Mairi Jayne Weir, also making her debut at The Elgiva.
She said: “I’m looking forward to it. I’ve done panto before, my first was when I was four and that was Jack and the Beanstalk too. It’s very exciting to be coming back and doing Jack and the Beanstalk as the princess.”
Fairy Liquid is being played by Kluane Saunders, who returns after her debut at the theatre last year.
She said: “I’m really looking forward to it, I really enjoyed last year and I’m keen to be back and doing it again with these lovely people.”
Kluane will be singing Let it Go. “It’s a big challenge ahead but I’m very excited because originally I wasn’t going to sing, so I’m excited to have a song.”
