For­mer ladies’ golf cham­pion, 82, dies

A FOR­MER ladies’ golf­ing cham­pion has died at the age of 82.

Bar­bara Arnold died on Thurs­day, Oc­to­ber 2, at her home in Dukes Wood Drive, Ger­rards Cross, with many of her fam­ily along­side her.

She was born in Southall, Mid­dle­sex, in Jan­uary 1932 and lived there un­til mar­ry­ing her hus­band Don­ald in 1956.

Mr and Mrs Arnold later moved to South­gate and were the par­ents of two girls, and she later worked with her hus­band in his fledg­ling elec­tronic se­cu­rity in­stal­la­tion for a few years.

The fam­ily moved to Ger­rards Cross in 1982.

Mrs Arnold once be­longed to a con­cert party which en­ter­tained groups for char­ity and would of­ten sing at week­ends at the Bri­tish Le­gion Club. She was also a mem­ber of Ger­rards Cross Flower Club, en­ter­ing many of their com­pe­ti­tions.

And she was a for­mer cham­pion at Wex­ham Park Golf Club, once achiev­ing a hole in one at the Lake Park Golf Club in Dal­las, Texas, in 2003. Mrs Arnold was also a mem­ber of Ger­rards Cross Bridge Club.

She is sur­vived by her hus­band, two daugh­ters, four grand­daugh­ters and seven great-grand­chil­dren.
