Former ladies’ golf champion, 82, dies
A FORMER ladies’ golfing champion has died at the age of 82.
Barbara Arnold died on Thursday, October 2, at her home in Dukes Wood Drive, Gerrards Cross, with many of her family alongside her.
She was born in Southall, Middlesex, in January 1932 and lived there until marrying her husband Donald in 1956.
Mr and Mrs Arnold later moved to Southgate and were the parents of two girls, and she later worked with her husband in his fledgling electronic security installation for a few years.
The family moved to Gerrards Cross in 1982.
Mrs Arnold once belonged to a concert party which entertained groups for charity and would often sing at weekends at the British Legion Club. She was also a member of Gerrards Cross Flower Club, entering many of their competitions.
And she was a former champion at Wexham Park Golf Club, once achieving a hole in one at the Lake Park Golf Club in Dallas, Texas, in 2003. Mrs Arnold was also a member of Gerrards Cross Bridge Club.
She is survived by her husband, two daughters, four granddaughters and seven great-grandchildren.
