New high for house prices

THE av­er­age house price in Buck­ing­hamshire has risen to a new high of £285,649.

It in­creased by £2,724 (one per cent) in Au­gust, ac­cord­ing to a re­port by Bucks Business First on Land Reg­istry fig­ures.

The av­er­age is now 3.3 per cent (£9,167) above April 2008’s pre-re­ces­sion peak.

In the past year prices in Buck­ing­hamshire have risen 8.8 per cent (£23,073), com­pared to 8.4 per cent (£13,707) in the coun­try as a whole and the 21.6 per cent (£82,986) in London.

There were 829 sales in Buck­ing­hamshire in June, five more than the same month last year. While the 9,550 houses sold in the year to June 2014 was the high­est since the re­ces­sion, trans­ac­tions were still 23.6 per cent be­low the 2007 level.
