Win­ter con­cert sea­son set to launch

WIN­TER fes­ti­val of mu­sic will get un­der way this week­end.

Amer­sham Fes­ti­val of Mu­sic’s Win­ter Con­cert Sea­son 2014 to 2015 will start on Fri­day at 8pm with a show ti­tled Baroque Mas­ter­pieces at St Mary’s Church, in Church Street, Amer­sham.

The con­cert fea­tures Anna Har­vey (mezzo-so­prano), Jen­nifer St­in­ton (flute), Iain Led­ing­ham (harp­si­chord/con­duc­tor) and the Amer­sham Fes­ti­val Cham­ber Orches­tra.

Anna re­cently en­joyed an op­er­atic tri­umph in the ti­tle role of Han­del’s Ari­o­dante and the pro­gramme in­cludes the most fa­mous and thrilling aria from that opera, Dopo Notte.

Jen­nifer has per­formed and recorded con­cer­tos with lead­ing orches­tras in­clud­ing the English Cham­ber Orches­tra, Phil­har­mo­nia and Am­s­ter­dam Con­cert­ge­bouw. She will also per­form one of Vi­valdi’s vir­tu­osic solo con­cer­tos.

Iain has to date per­formed more than a hun­dred of Bach’s Can­tatas, in his role as mu­si­cal di­rec­tor of the com­plete Bach Can­tata se­ries at the Royal Academy of Mu­sic.
