Victorious Chesham miss out on clean sheet
CHESHAM Bowls emerged victorious in the first county competition held of the short mat bowling season on Saturday.
The annual Buckinghamshire Gala day, where 24 teams from Bucks, supplemented by teams from Northants and Herts, play a round robin in teams of pairs and triples, was held at Handy Cross Bowls Club.
This year’s winners were Chesham A, represented by pairs Malcolm Warwick and Keith Patrick, and triples Jenny Burden, Howard Cave and Malcolm Tingle.
Despite being drawn in a strong group against Hertfordshire, Marsh Gibbon, Holmer Green and Haddendham, Chesham played well and only lost one game throughout the day, and so ended as worthy winners.
