We sell chil­dren’s clothes and shoes from birth to age 14, and shoes for adults with feet up to size six. What are your shop’s spe­cial­i­ties? The sit-in ser­vice and the wide range of shoes that we of­fer. We have dif­fer­ent types of chil­dren’s shoes at dif­fer­ent times of the year, so for ex­am­ple in the build-up to the school year start­ing, we will have lots of plim­solls, and we are now get­ting in lots of snow boots for the win­ter months. What do you give to the com­mu­nity?

We try to get in­volved in lots of vil­lage events. I get in­volved in or­gan­is­ing the vil­lage Christ­mas Fun Night, which will be tak­ing place on Wed­nes­day, De­cem­ber 3 this year. We also re­ally wel­come chil­dren into the shop, so that when their par­ents bring them in they have some­where to sit and play, which is a ser­vice that not many other chil­dren’s clothes shops will of­fer. What are your best-sell­ing items? We sell lots of Start Rite Shoes, Tim­ber­land shoes, and party clothes for girls. How do you find work­ing in Ger­rards Cross? We have been here now for 19 years and I love it. I think it’s a re­ally lovely com­mu­nity. There was per­haps a time when peo­ple were mov­ing away from us­ing High Street shops, but they have come back. We like to think of our­selves as a
