Now’s your chance at sec­ond Christ­mas food fest

A FEAST of fes­tive food awaits vis­i­tors to a vil­lage culi­nary fes­ti­val.

The sec­ond Ger­rards Cross Christ­mas Food Fes­ti­val is tak­ing place on Satur­day, Novem­ber 29 and Sun­day, Novem­ber 30 at the Memo­rial Cen­tre and will be fea­tur­ing a va­ri­ety of fes­tive themed foods.

High­lights in­clude a lo­cal pro­ducer area, which fea­tures some of the finest pro­duce the Chilterns has to of­fer.

The event is be­ing run for the sec­ond time, and was orig­i­nally held fol­low­ing the suc­cess of the first sum­mer food fes­ti­val which went ahead in June 2013.

Food in­clud­ing cakes, cheeses, meat, wine and beer will be on of­fer, as well as jams and pre­serves and a

Ex­hibitors will also be at the event giv­ing cook­ing demon­stra­tions, in­clud­ing Richard Fox, an award win­ning cook­ery book au­thor and tele­vi­sion chef pre­sen­ter who has ap­peared on a range of pro­grammes.

Peo­ple will also be able to try their hand mak­ing choco­late truffles, pasta and canapes in the master class arena and for chil­dren there will be a cook­ery school which will al­low young­sters to learn how to com­bine in­gre­di­ents to make a meal.

There will be a kids’ food lab­o­ra­tory, al­low­ing chil­dren to ex­per­i­ment with food and also a mini chilli fes­ti­val, of­fer­ing tips for cook­ing with chilli and demon­stra­tions.

The event is be­ing put on by the Love Food or­gan­i­sa­tion, which also reg­u­larly hosts a popular food fes­ti­val in Great Mis­senden, and is be­ing held at the Ger­rards Cross Memo­rial Cen­tre.

Suzie Bower of the Ger­rards Cross Com­mu­nity As­so­ci­a­tion said: “It should be a fan­tas­tic event with lots go­ing on and lots of things to buy in time for Christ­mas.

“It was very popular last year so we are hop­ing for the same again.”

The event runs from 10am un­til 5pm on both days, with adult tick­ets cost­ing £4, se­niors £3.50, chil­dren from six to 16 £1 and a fam­ily ticket £9.
