Top Bri­tish sprinter sets one-minute chal­lenges

NO­lympic ath­lete got chil­dren on their feet when he paid a visit to their school. Last week Bri­tish sprinter Rion Pierre vis­ited Wa­ter­side School in Black­horse Av­enue, Che­sham, to take part in a spon­sored cir­cuit train­ing ex­er­cise.

The event was or­gan­ised through Sports for Schools, a pro­gramme de­signed to raise money for new equip­ment.

Chil­dren and teach­ers from all year groups took part in the cir­cuit train­ing, which in­cluded jumping jacks and push ups.

The chil­dren did each ex­er­cise for one minute be­fore mov­ing on to the next.

The chal­lenge was a suc­cess with ev­ery­one com­plet­ing their cir­cuit.

The visit was com­pleted with a pre­sen­ta­tion from Rion, where he shared his ex­pe­ri­ences and an­swered ques­tions about his life as a pro­fes­sional sprinter.

He also in­vited the chil­dren to take part in a spe­cial chal­lenge – to com­pete against him.
