Denham notch up second whitewash
MITCHELL Jones, Danny Lewis and Rhys Thoroughgood led the way for Denham Village A, who claimed a second whitewash in two outings as they beat Rickmansworth B 10-0 in the Chalfont Table Tennis League.
Chiltern began their campaign with a 9-1 victory over the Denham C team as captain Mike Atkinson and Andy Misseldine earned maximum points.
The Village B team shared an equally convincing 9-1 win against the Chalfont B team, thanks to a full house from captain Steve Brown and Simon Barnes.
Meanwhile, Rickmansworth A extended their lead at the top of the table with a comfortable 8-2 victory at two-man Chalfont C, Shashin Shah and Kevin Williams again doing the damage.
Rickmansworth’s victory has given them a seven point lead at the top of the division, albeit having played extra matches.
In a more competitive Division Two, Denham F overcame Rickmansworth D 7-3, thanks to an unblemished performance by David Cottle, while Ickenham URC registered their first win in four outings by the same score against Denham H.
The remaining encounter produced a narrow 6-4 victory for Denham E over Denham G, with another scintillating display from Max Pennington.
He did not drop a set and has won all four matches played so far.
