West’s grant will aid her aim to turn pro
TEENAGE golfer Charlotte West has received a £750 grant from the Bucks SportsAid Foundation.
Earlier this year, the 17-yearold amateur – who is already part of the England U16 squad – beat a professional field to win her first event in the WPGA One Day Series at Chestfield in Kent.
West, who lives in Prestwood and attends Amersham and Wycombe College, where she is studying for a BTec Sport Diploma Level 2, received her award on Friday at a special Bucks Sporting Lunch Club event at Dorney Lake.
A past Buckinghamshire champion and member of Harewood Downs Golf Club, she began playing golf at the age of just nine.
Now practising six days a week, her ambition is to play at St Andrew’s, turn professional and play on the PGA tour.
She said: “I’m very grateful for the support. Winning the One Day Series was one of my biggest achievements.
“I’m determined to play as much as possible and try and turn pro to make this my future career.”
