Road talks promising
HOPE is growing work could soon begin to improve safety in a road which villagers say is dangerous.
For more than two years, Gerrards Cross Parish Council has been campaigning for a change in layout of Packhorse Road outside Tesco to make it safer for pedestrians to negotiate.
It followed the results of a survey, carried out by a working party on behalf of the parish council, which found that 90 per cent of those questioned believed the road to be dangerous.
Ruth Vigor-Hedderley took over as the county council’s cabinet member for transport earlier this year. Parish council chairman Chris Brown talked with her about it, he said: “She was sympathetic and understood the problems we’ve been having, and I was encouraged by it.”
Mr Brown says he is now waiting on the results of a meeting between Mrs Vigor-Hedderley and Tesco, which has said it is prepared to help fund some of the costs to the junction.
