Is it time to scrap our local councils?

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - OPINION -

IT IS such a shame that this appeal was lost for the village of Chalfont St Peter, and particularly its schoolchildren. Unfortunately it was pretty much a forgone conclusion because to have upheld the appeal [against building on the Holy Cross site] would have been far too anti-establishment.

It appears that yet again Chiltern District Council (CDC) was shambolic. It is all very well to say the members have now left, presumably on pensions paid for by the ratepayers, but this is the second time CDC has put this village in a deplorable situation; this first obviously being ‘The Precinct’.

How much longer do the residents have to put up being represented by an unaccountable, irresponsible district council? Surely the time has come for all three district councils
